Evolution Book Club:
For this project we all read a book about evolution. I chose Undeniable by Bill Nye. We then met in "book club" groups to discuss what we had read. I met with Anthony and Jared.
Undeniable. What does it mean? To Bill Nye the Science guy, it means it can NOT be denied. When you read this book, you experienced the many ways leading to "His thoughts are wrong" or the exact opposite "I love these ideas!" and anywhere in between. For the full experience you should read this book and find out for yourself.
One of the most interesting points that our group discussed was the idea that “Religious people are against evolution.” From here Nye dives into his explanation of why and how evolution is true. He then goes on to state and explain all of the facts on evolution in his attempt to change the minds of millions of people from around the world. He talks about how we can create different species and how they are formed and bred both naturally and scientifically. The big idea is about how evolution is much more than a rebuttal to creationism, it’s also a better way to look into life itself. With Bill Nye’s charming, easy-going style, he encourages the reader to see the natural world as it is, not as some people would wish it to be. He does this well through a wonderfully, clear, readable, and enjoyable explanation of what evolution is and is not. In his casual, funny way, he describes evidence that demonstrates that evolution has not only happened in the past, but is happening in now too. Our group agreed that this book gave us a good idea of ourselves and about how we actually became who we are today. About the Author:
Out of all of the great authors to write evolution books, the name Bill Nye is not the first author to come to mind. The man known as “Bill Nye the Science Guy” has grown up from the television world and begun writing books. Take it all in. Bill Nye the Science Guy, writing a ⅘ star book about evolution. Unbelievable? Or is it Undeniable? It was surprisingly amazing for the ability that you would first expect from a guy like Bill Nye. When you hear the name, you think kids show on the computer from middle school. |
